I am now confused between the following options. On a scale of 10 how do you rate all these below and what are their strengths and weaknesses. 1. Bridgestone Dueler D684 2. Yokohama Geolander A/T G015 3. Continental ContiCrossContact LX2 4. BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 5. Michelin Primacy SUV 6. Pirelli Scorpion ATR Last edited by Aditya 13th December 2021 at 0502. Yoko Geolander is a well deserved second. Have been using this brand since 12 years and must say it's the best with no doubt even for Indian conditions. Though some say Michelin is much better, I would still reserve my opinion as I do not have any first hand experience of long term usage of this brand for SUV's. 5 Thanks 9th December 2021, 2059 5 BHPian Join Date Sep 2010 Location Pune Posts 812 Thanked 1,506 Times re SUV tyres for Indian Roads - Poll If you have a 4WD or AWD SUV, and you do reasonable amounts of trail bashing, take a hard look at the Continental CrossContact AT. 3 Thanks 9th December 2021, 2147 6 Senior - BHPian Join Date Oct 2018 Location COK\BLR\MYS Posts 3,261 Thanked 9,132 Times re SUV tyres for Indian Roads - Poll You can narrow this down to Dueler , Geolandar and Continental LX2. The Michelin is lot more silent than G015. However, I won't compare these two actually as the G015 is an A/T tyre, though I think it is biased towards highway use as it has four grooves to drain water. There's not much difference in highway grip when compared to PrimacySUV but the noise is substantial. Overall, Primacy is better as my XUV has mediocre brakes while the Duster is a well-planted vehicle. PrimacySUV is not an A/T tyre. It is an excellent highway runner. As said by many, you should include and compare the LTX and not PrimacySUV with G015, IMHO. Else you should include GeoLandar G055 also. Is BFG available, I thought both BFG and Falken / Hankook are not available due to the recent govt policies ? I voted for the G015 since you are apparently looking for an A/T tyre. If not check for non AT tyres. If AT do have a look at the Apollo Apterra. It is getting good reviews and I changed in my Endeavour and it is definitely running quiet and handling everything thrown at it so far well. It is cheaper by 10 to 14k compared to Geolander and I may be spending 10k more on longer run compared to Geo but I get newer tyres in the same time frame on overall cost front. 2 Thanks 10th December 2021, 1222 11 BHPian Join Date Jul 2021 Location Mumbai Posts 495 Thanked 1,739 Times re SUV tyres for Indian Roads - Poll Can experts here also share the prices of the different tyre brands being discussed here? I have recently bought a Hyundai Tucson CRDi the SUV is excellent but the tyres which Hyundai gave as OE fitment is cheap Korean made Nexen tyres the problems of which are already very well highlighted in a well compiled and documented manner somewhere else in the forum which is why I'm considering to replace these tyres to something better. As for your question I shall suggest you to go for the Bridgestone Duelers. They might not be as silent as say Michelins and neither do they have phenomenal wet grip but they are extremely durable for SUVs and at the same time are relatively silent and have reasonable grip levels. The Michelins even though excellent use soft compound which might cause it to develop cracks when put through some abuse, I was reading the thread of a fellow BHPian where he mentioned about the tyre cut in his Volkswagen Jetta also many such threads are beautifully archived in the forum. Lastly Bridgestone Duelers are among the better tyres. My friend who has a Hyundai Creta got these as OEM and is very satisfied with the same. Good luck with your search. 2 Thanks 12th December 2021, 1418 14 BHPian Join Date Jan 2021 Location Mumbai Posts 434 Thanked 923 Times re SUV tyres for Indian Roads - Poll Voted Bridgestone for the reasons already described by our fellow BHPians, therefore no value addition in repeating them. Used them on my Fortuner and was very happy. May I suggest an additional Wildcard entry? Apollo Tyres. From my experience not technically speaking I have found the compound of Apollo tires to be quite firm and therefore they are able to take a beating day in and out. I have had quite a few punctures over the years and yet the tyres haven't complained in any way. They are also cheaper than some of the more expensive brands. Additionally, my daily commute of around 50-60 Kms in Mumbai has also been quite pleasant with these tyres. Out of all the other tyres that I have owned these ones have been the least prone to bruising, cuts etc. Being a government officer, I also have to travel to many construction sites where road conditions are possibly worst than off-road and the Apollos have been my choice. Would suggest you to give them some consideration too 4 Thanks 13th December 2021, 0130 15 BHPian Join Date Oct 2019 Location Bangalore,DEL Posts 86 Thanked 341 Times re SUV tyres for Indian Roads - Poll No experience with BFG. Theirhistory, international reputation and warranties already make you a winner. Bridgestone seemingly has more of a focus on the 'everyday' motorist than Michelin. And though Michelin might be a bit more upscale, it does offer 'everyday' tyres at a price accessible for many people for the discerning buyer. Both Premier and Primacy are the top tires of Michelin. But since they are pretty good, what will you choose? Choosing tires set is essential for your vehicle. They are one of the most vital parts that need to be changed eventually. By selecting the right set, you can get a better driving experience, according to the characters and the speciality of these tires. What we have here are Michelin Premier and Michelin Primacy, two of the best Michelin tires that mostly known for the value for money. What can we say? They got the durability, comfort, performance, acceleration altogether within the excellent affordable package. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the Michelin Premier and Primacy, along with their in-depth reviews, which may help you to consider buying the best fit for your vehicle. Contents1 Michelin Premier2 Michelin Primacy3 Michelin Premier vs Primacy 4 Conclusion The first one on the list is Michelin Premier. Known as one of the best tire brands in the world, Michelin keeps producing the best tires in the market, and Premier is its best selling one. If you talk about durability, this is the King. Tread life is better when compared to the competitors, even the premium ones. So, this tire set can give you better longevity plus a smoother riding experience. Since the price is pretty much affordable, you can also save some money by buying Michelin Premier. And because the tires are pretty durable, you don’t need to change these anytime soon. You can use them for a longer time. This way will effectively cut your tire expense. Read also Toyo Open Country MT vs Nitto Ridge Grappler. With all these benefits, no wonder many car owners would always recommend this tire. Its premium quality is unquestionable, and once you install Michelin Premier, you won’t take a glance at other tires ever again. The premiums also paid with the affordable price seems too good to be accurate, but it is. Michelin Premier is one of those tires that has durability on its hand. With an exceptional tread life, you can always depend on the Premier for longer rides. Longevity isn’t the only thing you can get, but also the performance and the service in general. These tires can deliver the best user experience you could ever hope for. Providing a smoother ride, Michelin Premier can make the whole riding experience better with less noise produced and protecting against bumps. The ability to absorb shocks and shakes are pretty good too. Acceleration is an essential aspect of a cor. Better acceleration can be translated into better speed to some extend. Supporting the engine, Michelin Premier can deliver better acceleration by removing the excessive load from the engine. This way, the machine can be maintained longer and could last for some more. Another fantastic thing about these tires is that they’re pretty versatile for other environments besides city road. Though it’s not highly effective to fight snow, they’re capable of taking wet or dry roads. Michelin Primacy Now we’re taking a glance at Michelin Primacy, another excellent tire by Michelin. Compared to Premier, this is still a fantastic set. It’s highly dependable for your vehicle and having the best friction than others. You can still gain the best performance and control possible, along with its exciting details. No matter what surface you’re on, Michelin Primacy will take you through it. It works miraculously by absorbing shocks and shakers, further give you a smoother driving experience. Talking about performance delivery, Michelin Primacy can even surpass Premier. It’s often regarded as the best quality tires in the entire marketplace, at the same price level. But, all these are traded with less good tread life and longevity. While Premier seems to balance all of them, Primacy does give some of the ups and downs. The tearing rate is considerably worse, so you need to replace these tires more often. Of course, the price is also not considered to be affordable. While you have the budget, Michele Primacy can work in the way you desire. As mentione above, Micheli Primacy does give you the control and performance, those most lovable factors. But, the friction part is not as good as others, even Premier. You can still find other convenient features, though. It takes off the pressure and makes it easier for the engine to run. This will result in better performance to bring out the best of your car. Increased acceleration, which makes the engine works less complicated, can make its life better than usual. Of course, it still has durability, but it is not the best in the market. Tread life is not that terrible, but it’s nowhere near Premier either. But, if you take a direct comparison of Primacy and the other tires at the same price level, Primacy can give you more than just tires. The tires bring out the maximum comfort, so for those who want a smoother ride, Primacy is the one to go, though the users still need to replace them now and then. The fantastic riding performance is greatly enhanced than usual. What’s more interesting is that they perform quaitely. While you’re driving, the sounds produced from the tires will be significantly decreased. As for the value for money, Michelin Primacy works excellently. It can deliver premium quality and many features to consider in a not too expensive way. We’ve looked into Michelin Premier and Primacy and took some notes around what’s best about these two. From the findings above, we can consider that both are great tires. They have value for money but come with different characters, and you need to consider which one can suit you the best. Michelin Premier is most balanced of all. It’s durable, able to deliver the best performance, and notably better tread life for longer use. Compared to the tread life in Primacy, it is way more significant. If you’re not that bothered about tread life, Primacy can give you a much better riding experience. It feels smoother and more convenient than Premier.
